President Graham O’Donohue’s penultimate presidents game was the annual clash with the Warwickshire Vice Presidents at Royal Leamington Spa. The scoreline was 101-75 to the President but one of the VP rinks was a player short so the final adjusted score was 101-70.

President Graham O’Donohue, John Brindley, Tim Messinger (both Wolvey) and Vice President Geoff Moran took a treble, four and five to lead by fourteen shots at the midway stage. A small fightback cut that to nine but a five for the President’s rink was enough to guide them to a 23-11 victory. Sid Solanki (Lillington), Graham Parker (Royal Leamington Spa), Graham Cluff (Whitnash) and Past President Brian Mace Humphries were five up at the halfway stage and five up with two ends left. A single and six gave Mace Humphries and co the 21-10 win.

Neil Weston (Royal Leamington Spa), John Buggins (Lillington), County Secretary Michael Jackson and Colin Daly (Lillington) were level after eight ends but one down with three ends to play. A double, single and four saw Daly and co take the win 17-11. Steve Martin (Executive), Warren Ridgeway (Wellesbourne), Ted Coupe (Executive) and Jerry Horne (Royal Leamington Spa) were four shots adrift after eight ends but went on a five end scoring run to clear the deficit and lead by five. The VPs managed to cut the deficit by one but couldn’t deny Horne’s rink their 16-12 victory.

Past President Peter Vale Humphreys, Richard Kilgour (Jaguar), Les Anscombe (Royal Leamington Spa) and Assistant Secretary Bob Allcock went from level after seven ends to five down after eleven. With two ends left the deficit had grown to six, Allcock and co finished with a double and single to make the final score 12-15 but with the VPs a player short their score was reduced by four to make the final score a 12-11 win for the Bears. Andy Farrow, Malcolm Wickens (both Royal Leamington Spa), Mark Neville (Avon) and Past President Nigel Hewitson were all square after seven ends, moved ahead briefly but trailed by seven with four ends left. A single and treble cut the deficit but the sides swapped singles, final score 15-12 win to the VPs.
